TRIGGER ALERT - CHILD ILLNESS & DEATH. This book is based on the real life event from the author's life. For anyone who has gone thru half of what these parents have gone thru, I have nothing but tears for you. I hope this book helped the author heal and can help others cope and see a path ahead. In the last half of the book, I loved how Miss Macintosh showed the two paths the judges decision set in motion. Very sad and emotional.
The first half was very good. The second half had me confused from there on out. I ended up skimming the last third of the book.
This novel really moved me. I just finished it this afternoon and I was so impressed that I have ordered some of the author's other books on Amazon.I've thought about how to describe the story without giving too much away and I'm not sure I can. Just know that this is a heart-felt story about a couple and their son who is terminally ill. Tough decisions must be made...and how can anyone know the outcome of those decisions?This will make you really feel for what Pip and Max are going through and wondering what you would do in the same situation. To me, it didn't feel like it had one false or weak note.Once you have finished the story be sure to read the author's afterword in the book!
I devoured this book and loved the way it showed that Pip and Max would be ok whatever the decision was that the judge handed down.
